Bob Newhart is one of the greatest comedians of our time. He has influenced and fathered the comedic stylings of so many comedians that listing all of them would be stupid.
He has starred in four TV shows with different variations of his name as their titles, The Bob Newhart Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Newhart, and Bob. Why not go for the gusto and bring Bob Newhart back in a fifth incarnation, The New Newhart Show?
Here is the show concept.
Bob Newhart's long lost brother Rob dies and leaves him a ski resort...in Afghanistan. Going against all his friends' advice and against good judgment, he decides to move to Afghanistan and carry the torch of his brother's dream, healing Afghanistan with comedy and skiing.
Every episode would bring a new set of problems and a flurry of washed-up-semi-famous guest stars who have somehow ended up in Afghanistan.
I want to see another Bob Newhart show. This could be the most amazing thing ever.

dude that would be rad if there was a group of afghanis from the town or employees that end picking up english from Bob Newhart so they all speak like him with that Newhart sort of stuttery cadence
I'm not sure who Bob Newhart is but one of the running gags could be that the visiting guest stars are always asking where the afghans are in the pro shop of the lodge... as a result the main character takes up crocheting to fulfill his guest request...each time he swears it's going to be his last, and everytime he is perturbs but accomidating... now like I said I'm not familiar with this Newhart fellow is he someone that can play perturbed but accomidating? if so this might work... so at the end of each episode the wash up or C lister says their goodbyes and leaves with an afghan
I like the idea for the show but this afghan idea sounds a bit like the love boat... doesn't really work
I agree that it sounds formulaic but if it doesn't work why are you still using the Love Boat as a reference point 30 years after it was made.... I bet peanuts to penises you could name at least 3 characters from that show... there are not too many shows you can say that about so it worked on some level
I love Bob Newhart! I can name two characters from Laverne & Shirley and two from BJ & the Bear

WOW I haven't thought about BJ and the Bear in forever, there should be a show about a trucker on current television... it seems ripe for drama considering the rising gas prices... someone should work on that
