Hoarders Billionaire Edition

Our country, nay... our world is in financial turmoil, and guess who has been thinking about this problem. Yeah, me, Chuck McCarthy.

I don't have all the answers, but I do think I have come up with an idea that could help all of us out, and it is very simple.

Most of us think of billionaires as being more fortunate than the rest of us, but have you ever stopped to wonder why all these super rich people have such giant houses? Have so many giant houses?

They have giant houses, because giant houses have giant garages.

These super rich people are suffering from a terrible and debilitating disease... Many, if not all, of these super rich people are compulsive hoarders suffering from disposophobia. The houses, the boats, the cars, the diamonds, the shoes, the gold nuggets, the sports teams, the Faberge eggs, the paintings, the sculptures, the copies of the constitution, and even the billions of dollars they have in the bank are all signifiers of their inability to let go of things.

It is only because these people have maids, managers, housekeepers, butlers to keep all their crap in order and the ability to buy or build larger and larger houses, that they are able to hide the illness from everyone.

What the world needs is Hoarders Billionaire Edition to help all the billionaires in the world with their compulsive hoarding.

Only one or two of you might have the TV production chops to make this happen, but this idea can help everyone, for it is my belief that if all of these billionaires are cured, trickle down economics will actually work.

Beyond helping everyone in the world by helping these billionaires get rid of millions of dollars of things they don't need, cleaning out billions from cluttered bank accounts, and helping free up capitol that the rest of the world might actually need, this show could be the start of making you into a super rich person.

Think about it. This show would basically be a cross between Hoarders (super popular) and Cribs (super popular) and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (super popular and fabulous).

You don't have to be as smart as Soulja Boy to know this is a good idea. People love to see how super rich people live just as much as the love seeing rats living in someone's living room and hundreds of boxes of light bulbs stacked in the bathroom of a two bedroom Brooklyn apartment.

This show will be a hit!

Do it, and please, if you become super rich because of this, send me some of that money, or encourage billionaires you have on the show to send me some of the money they are trying to get rid of.

MasterDaters

Yeah, this is my 75th idea, and I know some of you are wondering when I am going to either become super rich, and or give up on this whole ideas blog thing. If I am bad at one thing, it is giving up. Men who refuse to give up on other people's ideas are zealots, fanatics, and obsessive compulsive. Men who refuse to give up on their own ideas are men of vision. I say, "men" because I am a man, and my friend has a hat that says, "men of vision" on it, but you can put a "wo-" in front of all the "mens" if you want to. There are definitely some women of vision out there too, but I am a man, so I want to be a man of vision. Long story short - I'm not giving up yet.

For this Special Edition 75th Idea I am going to give you, my millions of loyal readers, an idea that I actually worked on selling to someone before I got sidetracked. I almost had the time, energy, and passion to bring THIS idea to life.

MASTERDATERS - A multi-platform dating spectacle.

MasterDaters is a speed dating event with combined with Iron Chef, Wipe Out, Singled Out, and Monday Night football. Participants go on a series of speed dates while having their moves and mistakes documented and analyzed by snarky commentators using all the modern sports coverage tools such as screen graphics and instant replay. Michael Buckley and Greg Behrendt could be a good host duo, especially if their hair can be brought under control.

The show would also feature rotating special guests such as Dr. Sue, Dr. Drew, Dr. John Gray, Neil Straus, and other relationship experts, plus a roving on-field reporter (the usual hot chick with big breasts, raspy voice, and a slightly checkered past brandishing an oversized, overly phallic microphone). She would interview participants of interest as they move to their next date.

The main point to make about this show is that there are no winners or losers, well... at least not in the usual game show sense of these words. This is more about the spectacle, the event - People meeting People. There would be a live audience, a DJ, lights etc. and the show would be filmed at a hot club.

Every episode ends with a big dance party.

INTERNET TIE IN - Everyone wants this so bad!

The show would tour from city to city, and would be promoted like a big party with a MTV Spring Break vibe, single people flocking to it for the chance to be on TV, meet other singles, and party. Participants would be chosen from the crowd like the Price is Right, and casting would be fairly loose. Every person chosen to be a participant would be given a profile on the MasterDaters singles networking/dating site in a special "as seen on TV" section (obviously, this could also be worked out as a partnership with Facebook or Myspace).

Everyone else who comes out will be strongly encouraged to join the MasterDaters site etc. and they will all have to go to the MasterDaters sight the next day to check out the branded Cobra-Snake-like photos of themselves from the crazy after party.

Unlike other dating shows that are very LA-centric until they run out of people in LA claiming not to be actors, this show would reach out to the rest of the country. You like someone you see on the show they shot in your city, you can go online and contact them. Plus, the large amount of contestants on each episode would present a wide variety of interest for the viewing public.

Get this show on TV, and get your diamond bedazzled checkbook out to write me a check with lots of zeros involved. This is going to make someone a ton of money because done right this show can tie together live events, television broadcasts, and web content in a very cohesive and powerful way that sponsors will be fighting tooth and nail to get a piece of, and after all, that's what it's all about, gettin a piece!

Rock Band Manager

There is a ton of money in the video game industry. I am not just talking out of my ass on this one. You can look it up. Billions of dollars.

A while back, I predicted to myself that video game soundtracks were going to be the last lucrative outlet for record companies and bands as far as recorded materials are concerned. Dubbing and bootlegging video games is still much harder than uploading or downloading an MP3.

Not only did some video game manufacturers recognize this fact, but they figured out how to exploit it, to own it, to dive into it like Scrooge McDuck, by creating video games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

These video games have become immensely popular. People love to pretend like they are rock stars, to sing and play along with famous songs, and now, new songs from up and coming bands.

Lets take it to eleven.

Here is the idea - Rock Band Manager, an online virtual world/community very similar to the real music industry.

Bands would promote their live shows to be performed via webcam.

Bands would create flyers for their band. Paste them up in a 3-D virtual city, promote themselves on message boards etc. Moreover, there would be venues with tie ins to famous real venues such as the Roxy and a resurrected virtual CBGB.

Here is the important part. There would be real money involved.

The bands would have to pay for flyers, and any other virtual promotional tool inside the system. And, fans would have to pay a cover charge to see these shows, but no ticket price could be over a dollar, and the flyers etc. cost would be in the one tenth of a cent range.

Why is this good for Harmonix / MTV / EA? Well, they would take a cut from all ticket sales. They would make money from selling this plug in or new version of the game. They would make money selling not only flyers etc. to the bands, but advertising space in the virtual world to everyone from Allstate to Zildjian.

If you work for Harmonix, MTV, or EA games, you should try to bring this up in a meeting, or you should gather a group of your fellow programmers, quit your jobs, form a new video game company, develop this idea, sell it back to MTV and EA, and retire to a tropical island.

Everyone wants to be a rock star, but it is way more fun to be a rock star with the whole world watching.

Pumping Hearts

Dating shows are very popular. Everyone can get caught up in the frenzy of an episode of MTV's "Next," every episode trashier than the "Next." The key is a finding a new angle to approach love, dating, and the human condition, to serve up the anticipation and drama of a first encounter on a fancy new serving dish.

Guess what I have for you.

Guess.

Yeah, a fancy new serving dish - dating at the gym.

I would call the show "Pumping Hearts."

Three guys and three girls would be guided through new work out routines, being paired up and split up by the host, a charismatic personal trainer - Greg and Susie on the stairmasters! Trip and Heather doing crunches! Patric and Channel stretching! NOW Switch! You get the idea.

Of course there would be one on one interviews at the water cooler.

Each show would consist of two sets of guys and girls. In the first segment, the girls would compete in a physical challenge to see who gets to pick a partner first, second, and third. In the second segment, the guys would compete.

Finally, all the couples would compete against each other in a physical challenge. The winners get a dream vacation.

Wrap up interviews.

The thing to really push when you are pitching this to your bosses at powerful reality show production companies is the fact that there can be tons of product placement, such as new exercise machines, sports drinks, apparel, supplements and the likes. There could even be guest instructors plugging books and DVDs for aerobics, palates, yoga, or any other new workout craze such as pole dancing.

You can get this going! And...Get it going! Get it going! Lift! Lift! Lift!

And...

Grapevine! Grapevine! Grapevine!
